“Repetition is the key to success” is believed to be
one of the best proverbs. We have heard this lot of time. We have found many
people giving instructions on the same and giving ideas and advantages of the
proverb. But, when this thing comes to us for doing it practically, we don’t
like repeating anything, in general. After a quite long repetition, we get
bored and keep the thing aside thinking that, it’s not going to be mine and
while we are over confident, we believe, we do not need any further repetition.
I, hereby, would like to give an example of real life that easily proves the
above proverb as what it is according to the saying.
Reaching
at Ahmedabad railway station, we normally hear some announcements about
different trains and other general information. According to our requirement,
we, either listen to it carefully or try to ignore/avoid it, in order to get
rid of its noise. But, what to do, when
we have a lot of time to spend doing nothing? We look at several situations,
for instance, a person who’s trying hard to catch the train, a coolie carrying
4 to 5 bags over his head, people fighting for their turn to fill up their
water bottles, people purchasing something, staff cleaning the trains and many
more, it’s almost un countable. But, out of this, I hardly found some time for
it and stopped watching those different situations and was thinking about some
new ways to spend my time there in.
As I
was thinking, even at that time there was something that was quite disturbing
me from finding out some new ways. Do you know what that was? How would you
know? I was alone there. That was the warbling (કલરવ) sound of hundreds of Magpie (કાબર). After all, that helped me spending my time as I
decided to watch their working methodology and analyze it.
When I was watching, I found some of
them were talking with each other, I mean communicating in their own language,
and some were hunting for food on the station near dustbins and canteens, while
some were collecting reeds (તણખલા). Zooming in my eyesight I came to know about two
major activities, they were doing. One was collecting the food and storing it
in their nests which were built on the iron rods, on the down side of the
railway platform roof and with the arrival and departure of trains, the
collected foods were falling down back on the platform due to the vibrations.
To our notice, Magpie was too active that it repeatedly fetched the same piece
of food again and again. This happened for at least 25 to 30 times. Moreover,
there was not only one magpie, around 50 to 60 magpies were involved in the
same activity of coming down, collecting and going up. Similarly, the second
major activity to our notice was collecting reeds for their nests. Everything
was happening in the manner with these magpies as it was happening with the
other while collecting foods. Now, I would like to analyze and describe the two
majorly performed activities.
Taking first thing in to
consideration, just imagine that what would have happened to us, if we had to
go down and come up for taking one and the same thing? We, right now have the
power to purchase many a things at a time from a shop. But, what, if we had the
rule to buy one thing, put that at home and go back to shop to purchase another
product? We would be tired of doing the same thing again and again because we
are not habituated to repeat the same thing again and again, except bathing,
talking, roaming, etc. We even, while sitting on the bed or chair, get tired
while repeating the same subject. But, these magpies do not get tired of
repetition, because of their aim in their mind, including coolness and inner
strength and self confidence. Coming to the second point, Had we not got
contractors to build or construct our home, we would have become a mason at our
own house constructing site. There is nothing wrong in working for our own
house, but the thing is, in spite of being educated, you would have been doing
it. I don’t know, whether magpies can hire a contractor to construct their nest
or not, but, that is not the point for us.
The point is repetition which can lead us to success.
We like repeating the things
which we like, for example, if a movie of our interest is aired on a channel,
we keep everything aside and watch it whole and after repeating for some number
of times, we even deliver the dialogues before the actor delivers it. There’s a
dialogue from movie Chandni Chowk to China, “Mujhe un dus
hazar move se khatra nahi hai, joh tumne ek baar practice kiya hai ... mujhe us
ek move se khatra hai, joh tumne dus hazar baar practice kiya hai”. Indeed, we are really in need
of repetition in things like studying, playing, etc. Repeat those things, which
you think, that can lead to success. Repetition polishes your skills. It is
going to make you the master of the game. Control your emotions when you fall
and fail. Go on doing your work repeatedly. But, never repeat your mistakes.
Magpies are just an example; there are almost all the birds and animals which
repeat several things to reach their aim. Even, we people (among us) believes
in repetition and polishes their inner quotient. Try it. In any condition, be
self motivated; remain keen to do things again and
again. Have patience. Repetition will surely lead you to a great success.
